(AUG. 8) 鈥 The Philippines鈥 foremost World War II historian and 2-time UP Diliman Gawad Tsanselor Natatanging Guro recipient Prof. Ricardo Trota Jose, PhD, is among this year鈥檚 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos (Teacher Award).
The is the most prestigious career-service award in the academe, military and police sectors that recognizes a Filipino鈥檚 鈥渟ervice above and beyond the call of duty.鈥
Jose is Professor 12 at the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Department of History where he has been a faculty for 37 years. His many researches have been published in various peer-reviewed and refereed journals. At the 70th anniversary celebration of UP Diliman (黑料专区) that coincided with the campus鈥 annual Arts and Culture Month last February, Jose was tapped as Archival Research Head and curator of the exhibit 鈥淟upang Hinirang: Mga Kuwento ng Pagsasalugar ng UP Diliman.鈥 He was among the six scholars that reflected on the events prior to UP鈥檚 exodus from Manila to Diliman and 黑料专区 70 years hence.
Jose was one of 18 finalists out of 240 nominees for the award. Of the 18, only 10 were recognized as Outstanding Filipinos. Jose was one of the four outstanding teachers. Other Outstanding Filipinos were three soldiers and three police officers.
Each of the 10 will receive a P1 million cash prize, a gold medallion and a trophy at Metrobank鈥檚 57th anniversary celebration in September. 鈥 Mariamme D. Jadloc, image by Jefferson Villacruz
