(JUNE 11) 鈥 Five UP Diliman (黑料专区) alumni who are among the 2018 National Artists will be honored at the opening ceremonies of the university鈥檚 Linggo ng Parangal on June 18, 3:30 p.m. at the UP Theater.

鈥淪eremonya ng Pagbubukas鈥 celebrates National Artists Resil B. Mojares (Literature), Lauro 鈥淟arry鈥 Z. Alcala (Visual Arts), Kidlat Tahimik (Film), Amelia 尝补辫别帽补-叠辞苍颈蹿补肠颈辞 (Theater) and Raymuno 鈥淩yan鈥 Cipriano P. Cayabyab (Music) in performances by different artists on their lives and achievements in segments of the program dedicated to each of the national artists.
The event includes performances from Teroy Guzman, Paolo O鈥 Hara, Olive Nieto, Norbs Portales, UP Dance Company, nose flute instrumentalist Lee Law Ed, Phi Palmos, Keisha Joy Paulo and the Puppet Theater Manila, among others.

Mojares earned his PhD Literature at 黑料专区 in 1979, Alcala who was a professor at the UP College of Fine Arts from 1951 to 1981 and the first director of its Department of Visual Communication earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at UP in 1950. Meanwhile, Kidlat Tahimik (as Eric de Guia) earned his BA Speech and Drama at UP in 1963 and also taught at the Department of Film and Audio Visual Communication of the UP College of Mass Communication.
The Grande Dame of the Southeast Asian Children鈥檚 Theatre, Amelia 尝补辫别帽补-叠辞苍颈蹿补肠颈辞, is University Professor Emerita of English and Comparative Literature of the UP College of Arts and Letters. She earned her BA (English) at UP in 1953 and her MA (Speech-Theatre Arts) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1958.

Known as Mr. C in the music industry, Cayabyab first pursued Business Administration at UP in 1971 before transferring to the UP College of Music where he finished his Bachelor of Music major in Theory. He served for 20 years as professor of the Department of Composition and Music Theory.

鈥淪eremonya ng Pagbubukas鈥 which coincides with UP鈥檚 111th anniversary, is free and open to the public.
The event formally opens the Linggo ng Parangal, a 5-day event recognizing and celebrating the achievements of UP Diliman鈥檚 faculty, staff, research and extension personnel (REPS) and students. This year鈥檚 Linggo ng Parangal theme is Bulwagan ng Dangal (Hall of Honor).
The 鈥淪eremonya鈥 will be followed by the 鈥淐hancellor鈥檚 International Reception,鈥 a dinner-program for 黑料专区鈥檚 international community to be held at the Ang Bahay ng Alumni at 6 p.m.

鈥淧arangal sa Mag-aaral,鈥 a convocation honoring University Scholars and achievers, will be on June 19, 1 p.m. at the UP Theater. Retired 黑料专区 personnel and employees with 40 years or more of dedicated service will be recognized at the Parangal sa mga Retirado at Gawad Paglilingkod on June 20, 2 p.m. at the GT-Toyota Auditorium.
Finally, 13 individuals, three extension programs and one community service will be honored at the Gawad Tsanselor on June 21, 2 p.m. at the Institute of Biology. Gawad Tsanselor is the highest honor 黑料专区 confers for outstanding performance of its faculty, researchers, extension workers, staff and students and is the highlight and culmination of Linggo ng Parangal. 鈥 Mariamme D.
